FLEXIBILITY HEADS THE REQUIREMENTS LIST FOR FURNACE REBUILD

In today's glass industry cold furnace rebuild projects are becoming more and more complex as the number of issues that have to be resolved for the following campaign life are increasing. These issues include aspects such as environmental requirements, operating costs, glass and product quality and production flexibility. To ensure the maximum results it is essential that me glass plant and the supplier work closely together to blend past production experiences and future requirements with the supplier's technology and know-how. This article will describe a furnace rebuild recently completed by Nikolaus Sorg for the Gerresheimer Group in its' Wi-sthoff glass plant in Germany and will discuss the results obtained with particular reference to production flexibility.
