Gaz de France takes stake in Singapore LNG import terminal

Gaz de France has agreed to take a 30% stake in Singapore's first LNG import terminal and will jointly build and operate the facility with PowerGas, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Power, the French utility announced June 30.rnThe proposed 3 million mt/year terminal would be built on a 30-hectare site on Jurong Island and is scheduled to be operational in 2012. Singapore's regulator Energy Market Authority in September 2007 picked PowerGas to develop the island state's first LNG facility. It also signaled then that Singapore was open to having a foreign partner join the development.
