摘要

Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah was promoted to one of the highest positions in the emirate after several decades as energy minister. This is adequate testimony to the regard in which he was held as he oversaw the rapid growth of the nation's LNG business. Qatar's oil minister Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah was replaced in a minor cabinet reshuffle January 18. He was often fond of saying he would like to hang a "sold out" sign in his office to notify potential customers that there is no more gas available in the tiny gas-rich state. But now that sign would need qualifying, as the state is now trying to find buyers for the gas that was expected to go to the US.
