Hansen, the international distributor of Neogen Corporation's dairy antibiotic tests has expanded its range with the recently launched BetaStar Combo.rnIt is claimed that by getting a result in five minutes it is the quickest single test available to simultaneously detect beta-lactam and tetracycline antibiotic residues in milk.rnThe tetracycline group of antibiotics is not as widely used as the beta-lactam group; therefore, testing for tetracycline residues in milk is not as widespread.rnThe EU has set a maximum residue level of 100 parts per billion for tetracyclines in milk and Neogen and Chr. Hansen expect the strongest initial interest for its BetaStar Combo product to come from EU countries where tetracyclines are more widely used for the treatment of mastitis.
