A proposal linking banker remuneration to risk-weighted assets rather than capping individual payouts could be gaining traction among European regulators, as controversy over pay in the finance industry continues. John Thanassoulis, a professor of financial economics at the Warwick Business School, has proposed that total remuneration pools be capped at a proportion of an individual firm's RWAs. Senior officials at the Bank of England and Bank of France have expressed interest in the idea.
