US ECM bankers are expecting a busy autumn even though macroeconomic concerns and uncertainty around this week's Federal Reserve decision on interest rates has prompted some issuers to delay launching deals. Tuesday saw three biotech/ healthcare companies launch IPOs immediately after the Labor Day holiday, but ECM volumes remained light for another week. Several growth companies decided to wait until after the key decision due from the FOMC this Thursday before proceeding with roadshows. IPO aspirants, including cycling gym chain soulcycle and data storage company pure storage, were among those companies that "elected not to enter into a world of the uncertain", one ECM banker said. Even so, these two deals could still launch as early as next week, pending an assessment of market conditions after the rate decision.
