Berenberg eyes equity capital markets growth in UK and US

Berenberg has set out plans to further grow its investment banking activities outside of its home German market, appointing Liberum banker Chris Bowman to spearhead equity capital markets expansion in the UK. The firm has been part of some decent mid-sized UK ECM deals already this year, including being a bookrunner on Market Tech Holdings sale of £112.5m of convertible bonds and as co-lead manager on the IPO of furniture retailer DFS. Bowman will report to global head of ECM Oliver Diehl. His appointment comes at the same time as the firm is considering launching an ECM business out of New York, after recently establishing an equities trading presence there.
