SG puts balance sheet behind securitisation platform

Societegenerale is putting its balance sheet behind commercial mortgage-backed securities, collateralised loan obligations and asset-backed securities as it looks to expand its global structured finance capabilities, a source familiar with the matter told IFR. The move comes just a few years after the French bank severely cut its presence in the securitisation market after the financial crisis. This spring, however, it began to build back its team by hiring about a dozen bankers from the Royal Bank of Scotland - which has been winding down its US securitisation business - and made some senior additions to its CMBS team.
