LCH.Clearnet inflation win gets mixed response

LCH.clearnet last week beat rivals to launch central clearing of inflation swaps, but the new service met with a mixed response as market participants said the positives of the move might be offset by asset class fragmentation and increased margin costs. The clearing house on Tuesday launched clearing of zero-coupon inflation swaps and towards the end of the week reported 18 member sign-ups and more than €1bn of notional cleared trades, albeit without buyside participation.
