Government-owned coal-miner solid energy new Zealand is in talks with its lenders to restructure a loan maturing in October 2016. Acting Solid Energy chairman Andy Coupe told the New Zealand parliament last week that falling coal prices had made it difficult for the company to refinance the loan. The company owes close to NZ$300m (US$222m) to lenders ANZ, Bank of New Zealand, Bank ofTokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Westpac. The facility is unsecured and without a government guarantee.
