Blythe Masters has taken the industry by surprise with her appointment as chief executive of technology start-up digital asset holdings less than a year after quitting her role as head of global commodities and regulatory affairs at JP Morgan following a decision to sell much of her business. Founded last year by Sunil Hirani, CEO of swap execution facility trueEx, and DRW Trading chief Don Wilson, the firm applies proprietary crypto-currency technology such as Block Chain, which powers Bitcoin, across mainstream financial businesses in an attempt to reduce settlement times and bring cost and efficiency savings.
