India to break equity record

The government is hoping to price the country's largest equity offering with an offer for sale in coal india that could breathe life into its privatisation programme. The government is selling up to 315.8m shares, or a 5% stake, for up to Rsll3bn (US$1.82bn), with an option to double the deal to 10%. The floor price has been fixed at Rs358, a discount of 4.5% to last Thursday's close of Rs375.15 on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
