Fed gives banks 2019 TLAC deadline

The Federal Reserve released its final TLAC rules on Thursday, giving eight of the most important US banks a hard and fast deadline of January 2019 to comply with the new regulations. The Fed said the banks have a combined shortfall of around US$70bn in TLAC capital, which can be written down in case a bank suffers massive losses. That was down from the US$120bn the Fed cited when it released the proposed total loss-absorbing capital rules late last year.
