Bank of China grows Vietnam loan book

Bank of China's Ho Chi Minh branch is targeting Asian manufacturers looking to expand operations in lower-cost Vietnam as it looks to grow its syndicated loan business, part of the group's overall plan to boost its presence in South-East Asia. The local branch of the Chinese state lender has this year originated and syndicated two financings for Vietnamese projects - a US$168m loan for Hong Kong-listed paper manufacturer Nine Dragons Paper (Holdings) and a US$103m loan for Texhong Textile Group. Both attracted commitments from local and other Asian lenders.
