Volatility hits new lows, as short-sellers eye further falls in the VIX

The VIX notched up its lowest ever close of 9.19 on Thursday -and is set to drop even further if record short positioning in futures contracts is anything to go by. CFTC data show that speculators have amassed a net short of-172,000 contracts.
