Cross-border M&A surges

Cross-border merger and acquisition activity has continued its strong pace after its rebound last year, and deals within Europe alone have more than doubled so far this year from the same stage of 2016. Cross-border M&A between companies in the European Union surpassed US$100bn after two multi-billion dollar deals in the past two weeks. Deals between companies in the EU totalled US$103.1bn, up 268% from the same stage last year, according to data from Thomson Reuters.
