Spanish utility iberdrola is in the market with a €5.3bn amendment to and extension of an existing loan, which will be the biggest Green loan to be issued by a European company to date. The deal brings the volume of Green loans syndicated in Europe to around €15bn as the loan market plays catch-up compared with the Green bond market, which saw more than €100bn of issuance in 2017, and the active Green Schuldschein market.
