MEXICO and ARGENTINA broke the ice in the Latin American primary markets last week when they issued over US$12bn in new supply in the first big benchmark deals of the year. Coming in the first week of the year was unusual for both sovereigns but, with broader risks on the rise, the region's borrowers are preferring to print sooner rather than later.
