Jefferies offers reprieve from Q4 trading gloom

Independent investment bank jefferies offered a more upbeat view of investment bank prospects, posting record revenues and profit for the year to the end of November on the back of buoyant debt and equity underwriting activity. JP MORGAN is scheduled to kick off earnings season for big banks on January 12 and is expected to report a performance similar to what was seen at Jefferies - that is, capital markets vastly outperforming trading in 2017.
