Asian debt binge set to continue

Asian offshore bonds may test 2017's record this year even as tight valuations cast doubts over the ability of the asset class to outperform again. Bankers predict a 10%-20% increase in G3 bonds from last year's US$333bn, as issuers take advantage of investor demand for yield, despite rising US interest rates. Net new issuance could rise to US$236bn, ANZ said in a report.
