Net zero claims under scrutiny as standardisation looms

Investors should be able to compare financial institutions' commitments to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 in around a year as work continues to standardise the metrics underpinning the pledges, according to the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials. Goldman Sachs and Wells Fargo this month announced net zero plans, following peers, including HSBC, which announced similar plans in October. But each banks' claims are slightly different, which is making comparisons difficult.
