Alpha offloads €10.8bn portfolio to lift NPL deal hopes

Greece's ALPHA BANK is selling a majority of a €10.8bn portfolio of loans to US alternative investment manager DAVIDSON KEMPNER and other investors, in what the bank said is the second biggest non-performing loans securitisation ever in Europe. It marks an encouraging start to 2021 after a bad year for deals to sell non-performing loans to clean up balance sheets in 2020, as deals were suspended or delayed by the Covid pandemic.
