Australia has become the latest country to introduce stress tests to measure the impact of climate change on the country's major banks. Geoff Summerhayes, executive board member of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, last week told firms the assessments would look at the impact of climate change, including extreme weather events, on banks' balance sheets, as well as the risks that might arise from the global transition to a low-carbon economy.
