EU tightens regulatory noose on London banks

Proposals approved by European Union leaders last week will make it likely major investment banks will locate more of their European business outside the UK once it leaves the EU. The European Council adopted a range of measures just ahead of this week's European Parliamentary elections, including "a requirement for third-country institutions with significant activities in the EU to have an EU intermediate parent undertaking".
