TAKEDA PHARMACEUTICAL made history with a jumbo ¥500bn (US$4.6bn) subordinated bond offering on May 31, confirming a remarkable turnaround in Japan's domestic corporate bond market during the past month. The issue, which is the biggest single-tranche wholesale transaction on record, came as yields and spreads declined after the market successfully digested a spate of corporate bonds in April.
