The long-anticipated entrance of world-leading nonwovens producer Jacob Holm Industries' in the United States has proven to be a grand one. The Basel, Switzerland-headquartered producer of hydroentangled and composite nonwovens, which has origins as a company dating back to 1794, claims that in commencing operations of its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Asheville, North Carolina it has established the largest spunlace production line in the world in terms of dimensional trim width of up to 4.6 meters (181 inches). The plant is dedicated to production of industrial and hygiene applications as well as the wipes market. The company projects annual capacity to exceed 18,000 tons annually.
