Clean drinking water is becoming more scarce in today's world and contamination can result in long-lasting damage to human health. Along with purifying water by means of mechanical measures, disinfection also plays an essential role in ensuring the supply of clean drinking water. Drinking water goes through an extensive disinfection process to ensure high quality; however, byproducts from the disinfection process can result in health risks.
