摘要

Tokyo—The Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate concluded a meeting here July 20 by announcing progress in engaging with the private sector in programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The six countries that are participating in the U.S.backed APP also indicated that Canada had expressed interest in joining the partnership, which seeks to promote the sharing of technology to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Existing members are Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, and the United States. The APP meeting saw some progress on 110 projects to reduce emissions, including "flagship projects" in each of eight sectors designated by the partnership for emission-reduction efforts, according to Harlan Watson, who headed the U.S. delegation and chaired the meeting.
