World Conservation Union's Framework For Vietnam Emphasizes Incentive Systems

Singapore—The World Conservation Union (IUCN) June 7 released a strategic framework for its activities in Vietnam over the next three years that will see it work closely with the government on refining environmental policy and climate change mitigation. The framework praises recent advances made by the government in environmental legislation, including the establishment of a national environmental plan and forest strategy, as well as new laws covering environmental protection, water resource management, and mineral exploitation. It also notes that authorities have increased environment-related spending to around 1 percent of the government budget.
