摘要

Washington, D.C.—The global carbon emissions market, led by robust trading in the European Union, grew in value to about $10 billion in 2005, nearly 10 times the value traded in the previous year, the World Bank said in a report released May 10. According to the report, State and Trends of the Carbon Market 2006, a total of 329.8 million tons of carbon-dioxide-equivalent emissions credits were traded internationally in 2005, up from the 16.28 million metric tons traded in 2004.rnEmissions are measured according to their greenhouse potency in relation to carbon dioxide, the most common but weakest of the six greenhouse gases covered by the Kyoto Protocol.
