Australia's Queensland Proposes Mandatory Energy Plan for Business, Solar Rebates

The Queensland state Parliament May 14 passed legislation that will require medium to large energy users to prepare five-year energy savings plans and to report publicly on their progress in carrying out those plans. The Clean Energy Bill 2008 will require facilities using more than specified amounts of energy to conduct an energy audit and will provide the government with baseline data on their energy use. The measure is expected to become law following the soon-to-be-completed ceremonial step of Royal Assent by the state governor.
