Asian Development Bank Loan to Tackle Water Shortage Problem in Western China

The Asian Development Bank Oct. 29 approved a $150 million loan to Guiyang, the capital of mountainous Guizhou province in western China, to construct urban water supply infrastructure and improve rural irrigation systems, the Manila-base bank said.rnAccording to ADB, the $150 million loan will be used to finance a portion of Guiyang Municipality's water sector development plan through the bank's Guiyang Integrated Water Resources Management Sector Project through to 2020, a bid to tackle growing water shortages caused by rapid growth and urbanization.
