摘要

The economic cost to Mexico of adapting to the effects of climate change in the future will be significantly higher than the cost of taking steps now to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Mexican Minister of the Environment and Natural Resources Juan Rafael Elvira Quesada told participants at a discussion Aug. 12 on U.S.-Mexican cooperation on climate change and energy. Adapting to the effects of climate change could cost Mexico 3.5 percent to 4.2 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) by mid-century, Elvira Quesada said.
