摘要

Spain's largest labor union and World Watch Magazine May 21 released their annual greenhouse gas emissions report, Evolution of Greenhouse Gases in Spain (1990-2008), pointing to an unprecedented drop in emissions due largely to the economic crisis.rnIn previous years, the report from the Workers' Commissions (CCOO) and the Worldwatch Institute publication has shown Spanish emissions rising beyond limits established under the Kyoto Protocol. This year's report reflected a 6 percent reduction in 2008.rnAccording to the report, 413.5 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent were emitted in 2008, down from 441.4 million in 2007. That put Spain at 42.7 percent over its 1990 base levels, still well above its target of plus-15 percent for Kyoto's 2008-2012 commitment period.
