European Union Bans Imports of Products That Contain Biocide Dimethylfumarate

A European Union-wide ban on imported products containing the biocide dimethyl-fumarate (DMF) came into force May 1, following reports that the substance had caused skin irritation and breathing difficulties for hundreds of consumers.rnAs well as prohibiting imports, the terms of the ban also require products containing DMF already on the EU market to be withdrawn from sale. Dimethylfumar-rnate is used to inhibit the growth of mold on goods such as furniture and footwear.
