The Czech Chamber of Deputies Nov. 9 approved an emergency legislative package that would subject large solar plants to a withholding tax, impose a gift tax on certain carbon dioxide emissions allowances, and raise the fee for converting public land into solar farms.rnThe measures would raise an estimated 10.7 billion crowns ($594.5 million) to help cover the 12 billion crown ($667.2 million) cost of the government's unexpectedly popular solar power subsidy while limiting electricity rates increases to 5.5 percent. The subsidy, or feed-in tariff, pays solar power generators above-market rates for the electricity they produce.
