EU Chemicals Agency Says Second REACH Enforcement Project Will Target Formulators

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) Oct. 15 announced a plan to inspect com-panies that purchase chemicals to prepare formu-lations such as paints, dyes, and industrial compounds, part of a 2011 enforcement project designed to test compliance with the European Union's REACH chemi-cals legislation.rnEnforcement authorities would "control the supply-chain related obligations for substances in the mixtures prepared by formulators as well as the CLP [classification, labeling, and packaging] notification re-quirements," ECHA said.rnThe inspections, which will take place across the Eu-ropean Union, will be coordinated by the Forum for Ex-change of Information on Enforcement, a group con-vened by ECHA and consisting of EU member state rep-resentatives.
