摘要

Growing amounts of solid waste and a shrinking landfill capacity are forcing Chinese cities to consider other waste management options, such as increased incineration.rnAccording to the Beijing municipal government, 90 percent of the city's waste now goes to landfills, with 5 percent incinerated and the remaining 5 percent processed into fertilizer. The city would like to incinerate about 20 percent of its waste by the end of 2012, the municipal government has said. On March 15, it announced plans to build six waste incineration power plants-three to be completed by 2012 and three more by 2015.
