European Court Censures Belgium for Late Adoption of REACH Enforcement Measures

Belgium has become the first country in the European Union to be censured by the European Court of Justice for breaching the REACH chemicals law, after the country's Brussels and Wallo-nia regions missed by nearly two years a deadline for putting in place sanctions for REACH noncompliance (Case C-265/10, Commission v. Belgium, E.C.R., 5/5/11).
