摘要

A week-long International Maritime Organization working group meeting to assess a range of market-based measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from shipping made little progress, according to members of a trade organization and environmental group attending the March 28-April 1 session. - As in most previous IMO environmental meetings, technical issues took a back seat to debate on the long-unresolved question of whether wealthier nations should pay more than developing countries to reduce shipping emissions, members of the United Kingdom's Chamber of Shipping and WWF-UK told BNA. The IMO Working Group on Greenhouse Gas Emissions was tasked with assessing the need and purpose of market-based measures, including a levy on bunker fuel and an emissions trading system, IMO said in an April 5 statement.
