Japan to Tighten Restrictions on Ships' Waste Discharges, Carbon Dioxide Emissions

Japan plans tighter restrictions on the dis posal of garbage and wastewater from oceangoing ships as well as new requirements for documenting carbon dioxide emissions starting Jan. 1, a Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport official told BNA Nov. 2. Proposed regulatory revisions were posted Oct. 24 for a one-month comment period before being published, possibly with revisions, in the government gazette.
