U.N. Panel Puts Off Decision on Transport Of Waste or Damaged Lithium Batteries

A U.N. panel of experts on hazardous materials transport has delayed a decision on proposals intended to facilitate the shipment of damaged or defective and waste lithium batteries. Instead, the U.N. Subcommittee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods ended its June 25-July 4 meeting in Geneva by asking the proposals' sponsors-the U.S.-based Portable Rechargeable Battery Association (PRBA) and the International Association for Advanced Rechargeable Batteries (RECHARGE)-to submit revised proposals at the next subcommittee meeting scheduled for Dec.
