Biocides Law Could Save Companies $3B Over 10 Years, European Commission Says

A new EU law on the authorization of biocidal products such as insect repellents and rat poisons, which entered into force July 17, could save manufacturers and importers up to €2.7 billion ($3.3 billion) over 10 years because of streamlined procedures, according to the European Commission. The savings would mainly result from a new process allowing companies to apply to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) for EU-wide authorization for their products, rather than having to apply for separate national authorizations, the Commission said.
