EU Parliament, Council Agree in Principle On Updated Chemical Plant Safety Rules

The European Parliament and EU member states represented by the EU Council have reached an informal agreement to update legislation on safety at chemical plants, the lawmaker appointed by Parliament to negotiate on the matter said March 29. Agreement on a so-called Seveso Ⅲ law would improve safety standards at about 10,000 chemicals plants in the European Union, said Janos Ader, a Hungarian center-right member in the European Parliament.
