The Polish Sejm (lower house of Parliament) narrowly passed legislation March 2 that would impose a tax on mining in the country, but postpones a decision about tax rates for shale gas until 2015.The tax would be imposed on mining products, chiefly copper and silver.If approved by the Senate and signed into law, the bill would take effect in April and would beef up the state budget by $600 million in 2012 and $680 million in 2013, Deputy Finance Minister Maciej Grabowski said.
