Some of Mexico's largest companies have made commitments to build sustainable supply chains and to slash their carbon footprints, which is also helping to boost their bottom line. At the Together for a Better Planet (Juntos por un Planeta Mejor) sustainability forum in Mexico City, 20 Mexican and international companies signed pledges to take a variety of steps including reducing energy and water consumption and informing employees about the benefits of sustainability. During the Sept. 4-5 event, main sponsor Walmart of Mexico and Central America also announced it will build two wind parks and a mini-hydropower station totaling 252 megawatts of capacity to meet its energy requirements.
