U.S. E-Waste Recycling Company Fined $4.5M, Official Sentenced to Prison for Fraud

A federal judge in Colorado has ordered a Denver-area electronics recycling corporation to pay a $4.5 million fine and sentenced its chief executive to serve 30 months in prison for their roles in a fraudulent scheme involving the ex- port of hazardous electronic waste to China and other foreign countries (United States v. Executive Recycling, D. Colo., No. 1:11-cr-00376, sentencing 7/23/13). Executive Recycling Inc. and Brandon Richter, the corporation's owner and chief executive officer, were sentenced July 23 by Judge William Martinez of the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, who ordered Richter to spend three years on supervised release after serving his sentence in federal prison.
