Canada will align its regulations governing the classification and labeling of hazardous products with standards in the United States to meet a commitment made by the Canada-United States Regulatory Cooperation Council, Health Canada announced June 29.rnThe government plans to publish draft Hazardous Products Regulations to replace the current Controlled Products Regulations, implementing the United Nations' Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals and, to the maximum extent possible, aligning Canadian rules with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration's Hazard Communication Standard, the department said in a notice published in the June 29 Canada Gazette, Part I.
