A Polish draft law on shale gas has been amended and sent to a government advisory body for review, along with proposed tax rates for extraction, Deputy Environment Minister Piotr Wozniak said June 12. "The final shape of the draft dealing with excavation of hydrocarbons, including shale gas, was submitted to the Council of Ministers' Economic Committee on June 12," Wozniak said at a news conference. "The document was submitted together with a proposal of taxes prepared by the Finance Ministry." The Council of Ministers' Economic Committee (KERM) is composed of a shifting assortment of the government's 20 ministers, depending on the subject being addressed. The ministers of economy, finance, and environment are always present.
