Italy, Vietnam Agree to Economic Cooperation In Deal Focusing on Energy, Environment

Italy and Vietnam agreed Jan. 21 to a series of bilateral cooperation agreements aimed at increasing economic ties, with most of the agreements centered on energy and environmental issues. Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of Vietnam's communist party, met with Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti and agreed to work to develop incentives for increased Italian investment in Vietnam, specifically focusing on the areas of infrastructure, energy, and environmental protection.
